A New Stadium For World Class Rugby Team
Today I have reconfirmed my 100 % and total backing for the new proposed Saints Stadium.
I have supported the new Stadium proposals right from the start and I can understand the fans frustrations as they are absolutely right to want to see the stadium built as soon as possible.
It is a complicated process the Club and the Developer have to go through to gain Planning permission but fans should remember it is the biggest Planning application St Helens Council will have seen.
Due to legal process there can be no shortcuts and we have to get it right to ensure there can be no legal objections from those not wishing to see the new Stadium built.
I want to give assurances that I am working with all the Partners involved in the project to help the team get the stadium that they and all the fans truly deserve. A World class Stadium for a World class team and for World class fans.
My office and fellow St Helens MP, Dave Watts have entered into dialogue with the newly formed pressure group "Saints Backing the Stadium" and we have outlined to them our total support for the new Stadium and we will continue to work hard to make it happen.

On a number of occasions recently you have failed in your duty to attend events organised by Saints supporters,regarding the proposed new Stadium.in fact you state,and i quote "My office and fellow MP Dave Watts" Can you explain your lack of any physical attendence at these events,or his it that your time is now spent in N.I.on more pressing matters of state.remind me just how many votes did they cast for you in the last election.Your duty is to your Constituents.and in the words of your Leader "LISTEN"

I have unequivocally stated that I am 100% behind the Saints bid to make the new Stadium become a reality.
We all want to make sure the Saints get the stadium they deserve. I have been involved since 2001 working to ensure this happens.
As a Government Minister for Northern Ireland, at such a sensitive time, I am required to carry out my Government duties - however that should not be mistaken for not supporting the Saints.
I have offered to meet with the Saints Backing the Stadium group and I will be more than willing to meet with you to reassure you of my commitment to help deliver the Stadium the Club and Fans rightly deserve.
