The Labour Government today announced new proposals to crack down on non-photographic visual depictions of under-aged children engaged in sexual activity.
This new offence will target paedophiles who try to get round the existing law to depict under-aged children engaged in sexual activity.
The proposals were announced as part of our response to a public consultation on the possession of non-photographic visual depictions of under-aged children engaged in sexual activity.
The offence of holding such images will carry a sentence of up to three years in prison.
These new proposals reflects Labour’s ongoing commitment to doing everything we can to clamp down on paedophiles and to protect children. We are on the side of the law abiding majority and determined to clamp down hard on those who prey on the most vulnerable in society.
This is in contrast to the Conservatives, who have repeatedly voted against Labour’s investment in law and order and the tough measures Labour has taken to fight crime. And the Lib Dems are just as soft on crime – a party who in 2003 voted against all the measures in our 2003 Anti-Social Behaviour Act and all the measures in our 2003 Criminal Justice Act.
