Visiting the new Cowley Language College

I visted the new £21.5 million pound Cowley Language College ahead of its official opening next week.

I was blown away by this fantastic new building; it truly is a 21st Century school which can now lead the way in showing how an "eco" school can be built and maintained.

I was able to speak first hand to the pupils during their snack break and they told me how fantastic they thought the building was and how much they are enjoying their new School.

We only have to think back ten years, and remember how many classroom facilities were in an appalling condition. I strongly believe that our children deserve the best facilities that we can build and teachers deserve the best classrooms to work in.

Visiting Cowley makes me incredibly proud to see the impact this Government's investment is having on the communities I represent.

This development is the first completed new build school in the Borough from the £145 million the Government has committed to Building Schools for the Future, right here in St Helens.

I look forward to returning next summer when the new sixth form facilities will be complete.
